The reliability, efficiency and economic performance of a hydrogen energy system is predetermined by the successful design of the basic groundwork. Only through suitable technology and performance choices of individual component as well as exact power tuning to the up-to-the-minute variable power supply and demand situation can operational and economic objectives be achieved.
HYCON offers expertise for the design and configuration of specific to your needs tailored and optimized hydrogen energy systems.

  • Furthermore, HYCON offers full planning and constructing services for your hydrogen energy system. These include:

Consulting

The question at the beginning of each investment is if basic feasibility and cost-effectiveness is realistic. Together with you we develop the right investment plan for your facility concept with a HECS-hydrogen energy system based on your requirements and goals as well as current economic and legal conditions.

For this purpose, we analyze your local power structure and customer behavior. By using our simulation tools, we are economically able to examine and evaluate the effects of different operating scenarios, system configurations or changes in economically conditions very accurate.

The result is a solid technological and economical analysis of an optimally designed HECS-hydrogen energy system for your application scenario and thus as a basis for your future decisions-making.

HECS - Hydrogen based Energy Complementary System

Hydrogen-based energy storage systems allow seperation of power generation and consumption. This is very helpful in overcoming supply problems typical of renewable energy production.

Hydrogen-based energy storage systems can do more then “simply” saving electricity, HECS can be expanded into multi-functional power stations which provide hydrogen for mobility or hydrogen, oxygen and heat for uses in business and industry.

  • With HECS HYCON has created a technological platform with which tailor-made system solutions can be created for various energy supply and usage situations. The basic operating principle of HECS is very simple:
  • Conversion of electricity into H2 in an electrolyzer with surplus electricity supply, e.g. out of own electricity-production.
  • Temporarily store the hydrogen.
  • Conversion of hydrogen back into electricity using fuel cells, for example, during periods of inadequate electricity-production or for alternative use of hydrogen in a technical process.
Efficiency and reliability of a HECS system are critically dependent on the optimal configuration of the individual components and the exact tuning with the current energy supply and demand situation.

With our experience, process simulation tools and experimentation capacity we ensure that a HECS system is perfectly tailored to the respective application.

 HYCON GmbH – The Company 

HYCON GmbH, located in Herten (Federal State of NRW, Germany) was founded in 2014 and provides vendor-independent consulting and engineering services for hydrogen technology and hydrogen-based energy storage system. The technical and economic expertise of HYCON is grounded in more than twenty years of experience of its founder in successful management of industrial hydrogen projects for market leaders such as E.ON / Ruhrgas, Opel, VW, Peugeot, RWE, GVG, Hitachi Zosen, Asahi Kasei etc. As an example for our business we did a special project in wind power electrolysis for the hydrogen application center “H2Herten”. The worldwide first HECS system for full electricity and hydrogen supply of a commercial property has been installed according to our design.
