Bachmann electronic, globally renowned provider of automation solutions, celebrates a highly successful end to 2019 and looks forward to an even stronger 2020. Current changes in the global energy market, combined with growing environmental awareness, play right into the hands of Feldkirch’s high-tech specialists.
Bachmann electronic grew significantly in 2019 with a growth rate of 11% to around €70 million. This came despite the economic downturn in European mechanical and plant engineering, uncertainty from Brexit and geopolitical trade conflicts. Above all, Bachmann’s focus on future-oriented, ‘green’ technologies, which began over 20 years ago, is starting to bear fruit. Bachmann electronic supplies components for the generation, distribution and storage of energy. The company also offers solutions to optimize energy usage by increasing the productivity of machines and systems. Systems to reduce energy consumption, along with sustainable raw material handling, for example in ship propulsion systems, round off the portfolio.
2019 also saw major investments in the future
A new location was opened in Rendsburg, Germany, with a team of specialists for wind turbine retrofitting. This targeted portfolio expansion was enabled by the earlier acquisition of an expert team for "Structural Health Monitoring". Extensive investments expanded and upgraded the production facilities in Feldkirch, as well as the software development branch in Innsbruck, open since 2018.
One of today’s major challenges is the limited labor market. Bachmann electronic addresses this challenge by taking on more apprentices. "Bachmann has definitely noticed a lack of skilled workers," says CEO Bernhard Zangerl. “Fortunately, we have an excellent reputation as an employer, and we take advantage of every opportunity to convey our company philosophy to potential new employees. This includes our activities in ‘green’ energy, as well as a consistent focus on high-quality, sustainable and robust products. Bachmann products offer a lifespan far beyond the market average.” The con-tinued renunciation of military applications remains an integral part of the company principles, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Bachmann electronic has set itself ambitious goals for the current year
Growth of around 15%, again double digits, will be supported by strong demand for Bachmann solutions in Asian and US markets. At EU level, the economic environment will remain challenging in 2020. Political goals related to global warming, combined with the associated changes in energy supply and mobility, are expected to have a positive impact on the automation market in the medium term.
Since 1970 Bachmann has been accelerating the progress in automation technology. Our leading position in the area of renewable energies, including no. 1 in wind automation, and our presence in the machine tool and marine industries are the visible result of consistent development work. Trust and a holistic solution concept grow on this solid basis. The clear yes to new challenges makes Bachmann an esteemed partner of innovative enterprises.
