Utilization of Battery Energy Storage System(BESS) in Japan
We will talk about our results and challenges of TEPCO concerned about energy storage systems. TEPCO is one of the largest electric power company in Japan, and we have been introducing energy storage systems as social requirements. In Japan, changes in the business model concerning about electricity are required due to changes of the energy structure (e.g. rapid growth of renewable energy), and worldwide trends affecting future energy, such as de-carbonization and decentralization. Battery energy storage system becomes more important for realizing future energy systems. We will talk about our approaches and some results about renewable energy, EV (V2X system), demand response, which are all deeply concerned with battery technology. We will continue to work on electricity storage technologies.
