Battery-Score-Card - Economy, Efficiency and Performance
In the fast-growing battery market with an increasing number of applications battery buyers are looking for reliable battery testing and accessible data to be able to choose suitable battery technology for their application and to be sure the system reaches the expected lifetime. However, today the battery testing is inconsistent across the market as cell producers use different cell formats and chemistries. Furthermore, one battery technology may be suitable for one application but inefficient for another.
Therefore, DNV GL issued the battery performance scorecard providing a roadmap to manage different cell technologies. In our laboratories we tested cells of nine manufacturers measuring the throughput (energy discharged) while exposing the cells to different abuse factors such as temperature, C-rate, average state of charge and state of charge swing.
Maximilian Mahn works as Professional for Energy Storage System at DNV GL. After Studying at the University of Technology Dresden he specialized in the topics Battery Storage Systems and Power-to-Gas at Next Energy EWE-Forschungszentrum.
