ABSTRACT:
In order to become successful, the energy transition for electricity and heat needs more than the introduction of renewable energy generation technologies into the market: Grid enhancement, storage, energy efficiency, demand side management any many more will be required. Thermal energy storage systems (TES) may contribute to this energy transition process. In the industries of concentrated solar power (CSP), particular TES systems, based on molten salt, have been successfully developed and operated for more than one decade. The presentation shows how they work and how they can be deployed also outside the solar sector.
VITA:
Oliver Baudson is heading as managing director of TSK Flagsol Engineering GmbH the concentrated solar power (CSP) activities of TSK. Based at Cologne / Germany TSK Flagsol acts as competence center for its TSK headquartered at Gijón / Spain. Oliver Baudson joined the CSP sector in 2011 as head of sales and marketing of TSK Flagsol and became managing director to lead the company in 2014. He brings in a wide range of managing competencies acquired through its two decades of experience in the international plant construction business, namely in the fields of chemical industry, oil&gas and conventional power. Under his management, TSK Flagsol matured its CSP-PV-Hybrid power plant concept as well as the eTES concept, which will help to accomplish Germany’s exit from coal fired power generation.
