Transformation Pathways for GHG Mitigation – Related Challenges and Chances
ABSTRACT:
The presentation will discuss how GHG mitigation goals can be achieved, which strategies are relevant and how they can be combined in different transformation pathways. Challenges which are related to the transformation pathways will also be outlined, including associated changes. With regard to the challenges, technological, infrastructural, economic, social, political as well as institutional aspects are touched upon. The presentation concludes by highlighting that some kind of future literacy is necessary to properly cover all different dimensions.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Fischedick has been Scientific Director of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy since January 2020 and an authorised member of the Management Board since 2010. He was appointed Vice President in 2006. Since 2008 he has been professor at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. He has more than 20 years of experience in energy system analysis and is an advisor to the EU and the German government as well as North Rhine-Westphalia and various companies. Wuppertal Institute pursues a transformative approach.
