ENERGY STORAGE EUROPE 2018 | Meeting of storage experts from science and industry

Storage experts from science and industry will meet at ENERGY STORAGE EUROPE 2018 from 13 to 15 March 2018 to present current trends and future challenges for the industry. Already in the first session, at the beginning of the conference, urgent questions on the status quo of the energy storage industry will be discussed. You should definitely not miss these three speakers. We have interviewed them in advance about their topics:

Prof. Dr. Eberhard Umbach

acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering
(Session 1: Sector coupling – holistic approaches for a successful energy transition)

How does the next stage of the energy storage market look like?
After the first successes of establishing renewable energies, it is now high time to further develop the energy system in a holistic approach, i.e. to transform electricity, mobility and heat supply together. This includes the rapid establishment of smart solutions, heat and electricity storage, new mobility concepts, and of a conjoint regulatory framework.

Thierry Lepercq

Executive Vice President, in charge of Research, Technology and Innovation at ENGIE
(Session 1: Is there a business model for energy storage?)

Is there a business model for Energy Storage? Or are there many different models?

There is no real business model for storage as such. The only viable business models need to take a systemic approach where storage is a brick in a broader offering. Mass competitive renewable generation needs mass competitive storage. How is this going to happen?

Florian Mayr

Partner at Apricum - The Cleantech Advisory.
(Session 1: The Status of the Energy Storage World - Are the Pioneering Years Over?)

How does the next stage of the energy storage market look like?
It will be all about facilitating the growth required by the increasing market demands. The ability to flexibly address new opportunities as well as emerging challenges, for example on the supply side, will be a key ingredient for success.
